[Finished] Missing Pieces (BTS) ·
  • Jungkook
  • The hyungs and I arrive at the dance studio where we hear music playing loudly, our choreographer already being here as always. Hoseok pushes open the door and we all stumble in, trying to be quiet. I look on as I see our choreographer – Yoona dancing to Sam Smith’s new song ‘How do you sleep?’ She’s dancing freely to it and I can’t help but notice just how into the music and dance she always gets. I look over at Hoseok who has his eyes glued on her and I can’t help but smile.
  • I know my hyung likes her, probably a lot and although they’re really close, he has never told her. I guess, I get it – it’s complicated. With the kind of lifestyle we have, maintaining relationships is difficult not to mention social media would eat us alive. There’s also the issue that she is actually our teacher and I don’t think management would be too happy, even if Bang PD-nim likes her a lot.
  • I watch as she sways to the music, seemingly unaware of our presence in the room. She turns, her hands traveling down her body while her hair flies around. She goes down into a split and then slides down onto the floor. She rolls and stands up, making it look so effortless when I know that it takes a lot of core and leg strength.
  • It’s no surprise that she’s our choreographer, even though she’s only twenty-four. She’s an amazing dancer who Bang PD-nim scouted himself. She was a street dancer back then and he had seen her dancing with her crew. She was the lead dancer and in the beginning, she had refused Bang’s offer. We never quite learned the reason why she did come but we’re all glad she’s our choreographer.
  • The song comes to an end and she grabs her water bottle. ‘You’re late.’ She says, never turning to look at us. So she knew we were here! I think to myself but I can’t help but gulp as she drinks. Yoona is a very nice person and outside of dance class, she is a very good friend of the hyungs and I. We often hang out together and she’s very funny and considerate but during lessons and practice, she is a different person – she’s very disciplined and one thing she really hates is when people aren't punctual.
  • ‘Sorry about that. Our maknae overslept.’ Namjoon replies. I choke on my own spit as I look at him. He gives me an apologetic look and shrugs.
  • ‘Oh really? So, it’s your fault Jungkook.’ She says as she finally turns around. She crosses her arms and struts towards me, a slight smirk on her face. ‘Then you should be punished. I want fifteen push-ups. Now.’ She directs. I sigh as I go down to the ground and begin the push-ups. It's useless to argue with her and besides, this isn't that bad. I hear Yoongi chuckling and so does she it seems. ‘Do you want to join him Yoongi?’ She asks.
  • ‘No ma’am.’ He replies, trying to hide his chuckles. I finish doing the push-ups and stand up as I take place next to my hyungs.
  • It’s been two hours of hard practice with Yoona directing our every move. ‘Okay let’s take a few minutes.’ She says and everyone cheers at the mention of that.
  • We finally stop for a break as we all slump down on the ground. The studio is filled with the sound of hard breathing. ‘Wah I feel so tired.’ Jin whines as he lays down on the ground, his chest rising and falling rapidly. Working on comebacks is often very hard because we’re learning new choreography which adds more pressure both on us and her. I nod in agreement and Yoona chuckles.
  • ‘What a bunch of old men.’ She teases as she stands up. Her grey shirt is soaked with sweat and her hair looks even wet and messy even though it’s in a ponytail. Her phone starts ringing and she goes to search for it in her bag. She frowns as she sees the caller ID and I exchange a look with Jimin who is sitting beside me. She hurries outside as she pushes the door open.
  • ‘Well she didn’t look too happy about that call.’ Yoongi comments, voicing everyone’s thoughts and I see Hoseok looking behind her. I can’t hear her well but I can tell she is arguing with someone.
  • ‘I just hope she knows she can come to us if she has a problem.’ Namjoon says.
  • ‘Yeah me too. She’s not just our choreographer or teacher. She’s a friend.’ Taehyung comments. He always gets worried about everyone. She walks back inside, her pony tail swinging back and forth.
  • ‘Are you okay noona?’ I ask. She looks at me and tries to force a smile before she gives up and sighs. Her hand goes to her hair as she lets it lose and starts to redo the ponytail.
  • ‘Yeah, it’s just my little brother, Baekhyun is always worrying me. I swear he’s a magnet for trouble but don’t worry about it.’ She says as she finishes doing the ponytail. ‘Okay, up you go and let’s continue.’ She says, clapping her hands together. Jin groans but we all get up and get into position.
  • Yoona
  • I try to focus on the choreography and forget the problems at home and with Baekhyun. I swear that he’s always getting into trouble but I know it’s my responsibility to take care of him. Eomma cannot do it on her own. Ever since Appa walked out on us, my brother has been acting out and rebelling. He’s only eighteen-years-old but he had to grow up quickly. I shake the thoughts away as I focus on the dance. As expected, Hoseok, Jimin and Jungkook have caught on really quickly. Taehyung is almost there as are Yoongi and Namjoon but Jin is struggling.
  • ‘Hey you okay?’ I ask and he stops and looks at me, a frown on his face. ‘What’s wrong? Come on, talk to me.’ I coax him.
  • ‘I know the steps but I keep mixing them up.’ He says as he looks away. I touch his face as I force him to look at me.
  • ‘Has that ever stopped us before? Come on – let’s do it together.’ I encourage him while I lead Jin to the middle. The others take a rest while I focus with Jin. ‘Okay, so kick, shuffle upper body while shuffle leg.’ I instruct. We do it together, step by step without the music at first and slower than normal. ‘Good, see you’re doing it. Now, we need to speed it up a bit.’ I say and he nods.
  • We do it together one more time. ‘Hoseok can you play the chorus part?’ I ask and he gives me a thumbs up. Jin and I dance to it together and I smile as I see him doing it better. ‘Okay, now on your own.’ I say and I see him gulp.
  • Even after all these years, Seokjin still gets nervous and insecure when it comes to dance. He often portrays himself as someone full of confidence but the truth is, he still has insecurities, especially in regards to dance. He doesn’t see how much he has actually improved and the fact that ARMY love him so much. He does it on his own and I smile as I give him a thumbs up while the boys all clap for him which forces Jin to smile.
  • ‘See, you did it. You’ve got to believe in yourself a little more Jin.’ I say and he nods. ‘Okay, that’s enough for today. Go eat something.’ I instruct and they nod as they give a little bow. They all leave except for Hoseok who walks up to me. ‘Everything okay Hobi?’ I ask.
  • ‘I was going to ask you the same thing. Earlier you looked really worried and then you said something about your brother being in trouble. Do you want to talk about it?’ He asks and I sigh.
  • ‘It’s nothing really. He just had another argument with eomma and then stormed out of the house. It’s gotten quite the routine now – him arguing with us and then leaving the house and God knows when he returns. I don’t even know what he does most of the times or where he goes and I worry that one day, he’ll get himself into trouble and I won’t be able to pull him out of.’ I explain.
  • ‘I see. Do you want me to talk to him? Maybe having a male figure will help.’ Hoseok suggests and I smile at him.
  • ‘I appreciate it Hobi but not yet. I want to try and deal with this for now but thank you. I do appreciate it.’ I say and he gives me a smile.
  • ‘Come on now – you know I’m your hope and you’re my hope – I’m J-Hope.’ He says, giving me an even bigger smile, which makes me giggle. On instinct, I go to hug him and he hugs back as he places his arms around me. ‘You need to eat too. Come eat with us.’ He says and I nod.
  • After the day is over, I grab my things and start walking home but I don’t really want to go home yet so I decide to stop at my favourite cafeteria. It’s not very big so it feels cozy and the workers there are all really nice – especially the youngest two – Minji and Yun. I enter the cafeteria and go by the counter to make my order. ‘Oh hey Yoona!’ Minji greets with her usual cheery smile and demeanor.
  • ‘Hi Minji. Hm can I get a Chai Tea and two ginger cookies?’ I ask and she nods.
  • ‘Of course. You can go sit down and I’ll bring them to you.’ She says and I nod as I go to one of the tables. I take out my phone and log onto Facebook as I start to scroll down. I come across one of the memories and I sigh. It’s a photo from seven years ago, before BTS had even debuted, back when I was still with my dance crew. We had just won a competition and then we decided to go and eat sushi to celebrate but that night had changed my life drastically.
  • Minji comes with the order as she places them on the table but I see her eyes darting to the man who is sitting by himself in the corner before she shakes her head. ‘Here you go. Enjoy.’ She says before she skips away. I look at her and I see her staring at a guy who is sitting in the corner by himself. He's wearing a long coat and has a scowl on his face. I watch as he stands up, grabs his things and go to pay. I see him talking within Minji and then he leaves the shop while Minji stares, looking confused.
  • I finish my tea and biscuits, go to pay, wave at the two girls and continue on my way back home when I hear shouting and yelling in the alley. My curiosity gets the best of me as I look as I try to hurry but the red hear grabs my attention. I gasp as I realize why – the red hair belongs to my brother. I look as four guys are surrounding him. One of them punches my brother and I find myself running in their direction.
  • ‘YAH!!’ I yell at them, attracting their attention just as I stop in front of them. ‘What do you think you’re doing?’ I ask, my voice still raised.
  • ‘You should mind your own business little girl.’ One of them snarls but I just scoff.
  • ‘It is my business when the one you’re beating is my little brother.’ I say and I see the four men exchanging looks.
  • ‘Noona, don’t.’ Baekhyun says. I look at him and see his busted lip and I get even more furious.
  • ‘Leave my brother alone.’ I say through gritted teeth, ignoring my brother and trying to focus on them. They exchange looks before one of them turns to Baekhyun.
  • ‘You should thank your sister but this is not over. You still owe us.’ He says in a very authoritative voice. The four men turn and leave the alley and I jog next to my brother. Except for the busted lip, he appears unharmed…for now. I grab him from his ear as I pull him up from the ground.
  • ‘Ow ow ow noona you’re hurting me.’ He complains and I twist at his ear, forcing him to jump and wince.
  • ‘You have a lot of explaining to do. How did you * these guys off? What did you do now huh?’ I ask, half yelling.
  • ‘Noona…’ Baekhyun begins and I can hear the shame and sorrow in his voice. ‘I owe them money noona.’ He says. I let go of his ear and he straightens up but keeps looking down.
  • ‘How much Baekhyun?’ I ask.
  • ‘Over six hundred thousand won.’ He says and I sigh. ‘I’m sorry noona.’ He replies, refusing to look at me. I run my hand through my hair as I groan in frustration.
  • ‘I’ll help you, not that you deserve it, but you’re my brother. Just promise me, you won’t get into more trouble.’ I say.
  • ‘I promise.’ He says, his eyes lighting up. I smile at him even though I know he won’t keep his promise.
  • Hey guys so here is the second chapter and we have been introduced to two other characters Yoona who is their choreographer and her brother Baekhyun who is always getting into trouble. I look forward to your thoughts on these two characters. - Tae's Misfit
